Iran has stated that it will not permit the resumption of civilian and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and that reports circulating about Tehran accepting the proposal of Qatari mediators regarding the opening of the waters do not correspond to reality.
Sea-news.az reports that this was stated by a source within Iran’s negotiating team.
The source emphasized that no agreement has been reached regarding the restoration of navigation through the strategic maritime passage of the Strait of Hormuz, and that these claims are of a disinformation nature. The agency’s interlocutor noted that as long as the United States “continues its hostile actions,” the strait will remain closed to maritime transport.
It should be noted that prior to this, Israel’s N12 television channel had claimed that US President Donald Trump postponed a planned military strike against Iran after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accepted a compromise proposal from Qatari mediators regarding the restoration of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
