A telephone conversation took place between Pakistans Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, and Saudi Arabias Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
Sea-news.az reports citing Al Jazeera, that discussions revolved around regional tension, particularly the current situation in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
During the talks, the focus was on the declaration of a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia by Houthi rebels in Yemen on July 20, the disruption of oil shipments redirected to the Red Sea following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and the resulting consequences. Furthermore, the Houthis’ potential to impose fees on ships passing through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the risks posed to regional maritime security were evaluated.
