Considered one of Russia’s most destructive weapons, the “Poseidon” unmanned underwater nuclear vehicle has once again come into the spotlight of the international agenda.
Sea-news.az reports that Alexander Stepanov, an expert at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), assessed the “Poseidon” vehicle as Russia’s most destructive strategic deterrent. The expert stated that several “Poseidon” carriers on combat duty in the world’s oceans are capable of targeting a large portion of potential rival countries. Strong tsunamis resulting from the deployment of the nuclear-armed torpedo could cause irreversible damage to major coastal cities.
It should be noted that Britain’s Daily Express publication evaluated Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement regarding the completion of work on this project as a warning to the West. A little earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, stated that the country already possesses a carrier for the “Poseidon” vehicle.
