On July 29, the Open Baku Championship in rowing and canoeing, jointly organized by the Baku City Youth and Sports Department and the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation, took place.
Sea-news.az reports that nearly 100 athletes from Baku and Mingachevir competed in the championship held on the Caspian Sea coast, near the “Surakhani” ship-museum. Athletes tested their strength over a 500-meter distance in coastal rowing, canoe, and kayak events. For the first time in the tournament, mixed-category races were also organized.
At the end of the competition, distinguished athletes were awarded diplomas and medals. It should be noted that the main purpose of holding the tournament is to test the preparation level of the athletes and increase internal competition.
