An unknown unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has struck a US-owned liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker at Egypt’s Mediterranean port of Damietta.
Sea-news.az reports citing the Reuters agency, that maritime security specialist company Ambrey stated the drone hit a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) named Energos Winter.
As a result of the attack, the fire that broke out on the vessel quickly grew and spread to another nearby gas carrier named Gaslog Salem. Thanks to fire-fighting and rescue brigades promptly deployed to the area, the flames were brought under control and crew members were evacuated. No injuries were reported during the incident.
