New rules have been approved in Azerbaijan to maintain documentation in maritime transport according to a single standard, strengthen security, and organize port control more efficiently.

According to sea-news.az that the Board of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport has approved the “Rules for keeping the crew list, passenger list, ship, radio, and engine logs.”

According to the new document, the registration of crew members and passenger lists must be kept in accordance with a designated unified form. The crew list must be drawn up directly by the ship’s master and, along with the vessel’s name, IMO number, flag state, and voyage route, must include the personal data and identity documents of each seafarer. The passenger list must accurately indicate identity and visa data, temporary or permanent residence permits, as well as ports of embarkation and disembarkation.

The rules also regulate the requirements for keeping ship, radio, and engine logs. In these logs, the operation of the vessel, its technical condition, radio communication operations, and events occurring in the engine room will be recorded sequentially. The application of the new rules serves to further align the safety and control system on vessels flying the flag of Azerbaijan with international maritime norms.
