Within the framework of the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor), the implementation of another large-scale project is beginning. The main goal is the establishment of the Trans-Caspian Ferry System that will connect Kazakhstan’s Port of Kuryk with the Port of Baku.
According to sea-news.az that Erkin Nigmetov, General Director of the Port of Kuryk, issued a notification regarding this.
According to the port head, within the project, the construction of modern railway-ferry platforms and special terminals on both sides is planned. In addition, in order to increase the efficiency of transportations, it is envisaged to purchase 6 next-generation ferries. Each of the new ferries will have the capacity to carry 120 loaded railcars simultaneously.
This strategic project will not only significantly increase the volume of cargo transportation across the Caspian Sea, but will also sharply accelerate the delivery time of cargo along the Middle Corridor.
