Azerbaijan, China, Central Asian countries, as well as Western companies are showing great interest in the Anaklia port.

According to sea-news.az that Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, stated this in an interview with the “Rustavi 2” television channel.

According to the minister, the Anaklia port is of strategic importance for Georgia: “Based on the important decision we have made, the state will be the owner of this strategic facility. The state itself will develop the port and will create an ecosystem by consolidating the interests of several partner countries.”

The minister said that with the right policy and approach, Georgia will have the opportunity to choose partners, and thanks to international cooperation, the attraction of cargo flows to the Anaklia port will be ensured.

It should be noted that by the decision of the Georgian government, the Anaklia port will be built based on the “landlord” model.

The total volume of investments to be directed to the project will amount to approximately 1.1 billion US dollars.
