Member of our youth national rowing team, Azer Ilyasov, who is currently at a training camp in Lithuania, has achieved another success on the international stage. Our athlete won a silver medal at the Open Lithuanian Rowing Championship held in the city of Šiauliai.

In a highly competitive race, athletes from countries such as the USA, Switzerland, and Israel competed for the championship alongside local rowers. Our representative, Azer Ilyasov, successfully navigated a grueling semi-final round featuring 15 athletes to qualify for the decisive “A” final.

In the final stage, held under extremely unfavorable, rainy, and windy weather conditions, our athlete demonstrated great determination. He covered the 2000-meter distance in 7 minutes and 52 seconds, crossing the finish line in second place. With this result, Azer Ilyasov finished behind only the local Lithuanian athlete, earning the tournament’s silver medal.

The team sea-news.az heartily congratulates our young athlete on this significant success in the international tournament and wishes him many more victories in future competitions!
