Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd have announced a change to the route of their Asia-Europe container service, AE15, confirming that vessels will once again transit through the Suez Canal and the Red Sea.
According to sea-news.az that the first voyage on this route will be carried out by the container ship Majestic Maersk.
According to the companies, the decision was made following a comprehensive assessment of the security situation in the Red Sea and is considered the beginning of a phased return to the Suez route.
Maersk noted that the Suez Canal and Red Sea route remains the fastest, most efficient, and environmentally sustainable option for cargo transport between Asia and Europe. Thanks to this change, transit times for customers will be reduced.
At the same time, Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd emphasized that the future operation of services within the framework of the “Gemini Cooperation” will depend on the security situation in the Red Sea and the absence of further escalation of tensions in the region.
