The U.S. Department of the Treasury has announced that it has revoked the temporary waivers that allowed Iran to sell oil, which were part of the memorandum of understanding established by the Trump administration.

According to the report, the revocation of the waivers, which were granted less than three weeks ago, is in response to Iran’s renewed attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours.
A U.S. official confirmed in an interview that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has revoked the general license that permitted the sale of Iranian oil.
“As President Trump and the administration have repeatedly stated, the memorandum of understanding in place with Iran is entirely conditional upon compliance. Iran will only benefit if it demonstrates good behavior. Iran’s actions in the strait are completely unacceptable to the United States and will have consequences,” the U.S. official stated.
