“Kazakhstan Railways” JSC and the Chinese city of Lianyungang have confirmed their readiness for the commissioning of the Aktau International Container Center.

According to sea-news.az this was reported with reference to the “Kazakhstan Railways” National Company JSC.

This matter was discussed during a meeting held between the Chairman of the Management Board of the company, Talgat Aldybergenov, and the Mayor of Lianyungang, Zhou Jin. The parties discussed the development of joint logistics projects, expanded investment cooperation, and the commissioning of the Aktau International Container Center.

One of the main outcomes of the talks was the confirmation of the completion of all preparatory work for the creation of “Aktau International Container Center” LLC. Its operations are planned to begin by the end of June. Special attention was focused on the integration of the Port of Lianyungang, the Khorgos Gateway dry port, and the container center in Aktau into a unified logistics system. This will ensure the delivery of cargo from the shores of the Yellow Sea through Kazakhstan and the Caspian Sea to the Caucasus, Turkey, and European markets.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route plays a key role in this system. Last year, container transportation along this route reached 42,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit), which represents a 15% increase compared to the previous year. In the first five months of this year, the growth constituted an additional 26% compared to the same period last year.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to continue the joint development of international transport corridors.
