After the Crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, US and Iran at the Negotiation Table!

Iran and the United States have established a special direct communication channel with the aim of reducing regional tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and preventing potential military confrontations.

According to sea-news.az Press TV reported this, citing its reliable sources.

The activation of the said communication channel was agreed upon during recent confidential or neutral diplomatic negotiations held between the parties in Switzerland.

The primary objective in creating the channel is to immediately prevent any operational incidents, attacks on vessels, or navigational misunderstandings that could lead to military escalation (increased tension) in a critical waterway like the Strait of Hormuz.

This diplomatic step follows sharp statements made by Iranian officials regarding the commercial fleet passing through the strait. As a reminder, on June 26, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi openly declared that the safe movement of vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz would not be guaranteed without obtaining permission and coordination from official Tehran.

Against the background of the recent attacks on the Singapore-flagged vessel and the activity of US warships in the region, this new communication line demonstrates that both states are in search of a compromise to protect maritime logistics and prevent uncontrolled crises.
