A fire incident has been recorded aboard the US Navy vessel “USS Indianapolis.”
According to sea-news.az the United States Naval Institute (USNI) reported that seven sailors among the crew members sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.
The incident was recorded on June 24 at the Mayport Naval Station located in Florida, while the vessel was anchored and waiting at the port.
From the moment the blaze broke out, the ships crew and the stations firefighting brigades acted promptly and in a coordinated manner, preventing the fire from expanding and completely extinguishing it.
The 7 sailors who suffered from smoke inhalation and minor injuries were immediately hospitalized at a nearby medical facility. After receiving the necessary medical assistance, all of them were discharged for outpatient treatment and returned back aboard to continue their service.
Currently, military specialists are investigating the technical malfunction or cause behind the outbreak of the fire aboard the vessel.
