On the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, a large-scale cleanup campaign has been organized in the Dubandi residential area of Baku.

According to sea-news.az within the framework of the action organized by the IDEA Public Union and supported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), the work to clean up oil waste and oil-contaminated debris scattered across the coastal area was successfully continued.

In this campaign aimed at restoring the ecological balance of the coastal zone, high-level assurance of the health and safety of the participants was kept under special focus. For this purpose, before the ecological event commenced, volunteers and other participants were provided with detailed instructions regarding the rules for handling oil waste, methods for the correct use of personal protective equipment, and necessary measures to be taken in case of emergencies.

During the course of the action, all types of oil waste and contaminated debris collected from the seashore were removed from the area by specialized vehicles and handed over to relevant specialized agencies in the appropriate manner for neutralization.

The contamination in question was related to a leak that occurred a few days ago in a subsea oil pipeline due to an external impact. Currently, the leak at sea has been completely contained, and campaigns of this nature aim to restore the coastal ecosystem to its previous cleanliness within a short period of time.
