The “Suleyman Vezirov” pipe-laying vessel belonging to the “Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping” CJSC (ASCO), a company under AZCON Holding, has been returned to operation following major overhaul works.

According to sea-news.az as part of the repairs executed in the floating dock of the Baku Shipyard, the underwater and above-water hull sections of the vessel were completely cleaned and painted, and damaged steel plates of the hull were renewed. At the same time, sea chests and hull valves were inspected, and routine repair works were carried out on mechanisms such as compressors, davits, and air heads located in the engine room, accommodation block, and on deck.

Meanwhile, within the framework of the works executed at ASCO’s “Zigh” Ship Repair and Construction Yard, the chamotte insulation of the burner for the “RAMEHA-860” type water-heating boiler was renewed in accordance with the client’s requirements, and the storm steps were tested and certified. The side flanges of the buoys were straightened, and the fairlead flanges were disassembled, lubricated, and reinstalled.

In addition, the following infrastructure and mechanical upgrades were carried out on the vessel:

  • The lower protective metal plates of anchor rollers No. 3 and 4, the stern fairlead roller, and the under-load moving rollers were repaired.
  • The lower supports of the pipe-laying conveyor and the mechanical protective covers of the main engines were restored.
  • The 40-ton double bitt bollard located at the stern was fabricated and replaced with a new one.
  • The drip tray beneath the oil-fuel pipelines was renewed.
  • The supports of the transit platforms located at the stern of the vessel and the support pillars of the deck area were restored, and the removable guard rails on the bow platforms were repaired.
  • Steel plates located at the waterline level in the midship section of both sides were welded.

During the repair period, unsuitable parts of the ballast water line were also replaced, and the cables of the PV-40/60 type crane were fully unwound from the drums, inspected, and rewound after testing. Defective parts of the under-load and under-pipe supports, combustion boilers, the foundation of the tensioner-clamping mechanism, and the steel cable drum were restored, while the deck and winches were cleaned and painted. Along with the renewal of the wooden flooring, the electric motor of the sewage pump, as well as the fans of the 3rd and 6th welding stations, were repaired.

After all works were completed, the vessel was engaged in sea trials, successfully completed the tests, and was delivered to the client.
