On June 16, 2026, a visit to “Neft Daşları” (Oil Rocks) was organized for participants of a series of informational sessions held for young media representatives within the framework of the Energy Dialogue Platform.
According to sea-news.az the media representatives first visited the monument of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, where they laid flowers in tribute. They also toured the museum named after him and were informed about archival photographs reflecting his attention and support for the development of the oil industry.
The young journalists were also introduced to exhibition stands showcasing the past and present of “Neft Daşları,” as well as the operations of the Gas-Turbine Power Plant. They received detailed information about the world’s first offshore oil well drilled using industrial methods, its historical significance, and the operations of the “Absheron” unmanned platform, including its Central Control Room at Neft Daşları.
During the visit, participants paid tribute at memorial sites dedicated to prominent oil geologist Aghagurban Aliyev, as well as oil workers who lost their lives at sea and those who became martyrs in the struggle for the country’s territorial integrity. They also viewed a commemorative composition marking the 30th anniversary of Neft Daşları.
Later, another briefing session was held with the participation of SOCAR officials, including Deputy Vice President Shalala Huseynova, Advisor to the Vice President Nargiz Jabbarli, and Deputy Head of “Azneft” Production Union Maarif Allahverdiyev. The session provided detailed insights into SOCAR’s exploration, development, and production activities, along with achievements and future goals, followed by a Q&A session with the journalists.
