STATEMENT: FALSE INFORMATION REGARDING THE COMPANYS ACTIVITIES DOES NOT REFLECT REALITY

According to sea-news.az a meeting was held today at the office of the Azerbaijan Seafarers Support Public Union with representatives of “Cunda Shipping Ltd.”, the company owning the “Circon” vessel — Human Resources Manager Alperen Yagcı and Baku office head Captain Ilkin Alasgerov.

During the meeting, the work carried out and future steps regarding the tragedy involving the “Natra” and “Circon” vessels were discussed. As the Azerbaijan Seafarers Support Public Union, we once again express our deep gratitude to the company’s management for the exceptional humanitarian support shown during these difficult days.

“Cunda Shipping Ltd.”, the managing company of the “Circon” vessel, has earned the respect of both the Turkish and Azerbaijani maritime communities through its exemplary solidarity and humanitarian approach following the maritime accident. The company demonstrated that it prioritizes the protection of human life above all else, not only for its own crew but also for the crew of the distressed “Natra” vessel.

From the very first moments of the incident, remaining faithful to its corporate values and maritime traditions, the management of “Cunda Shipping Ltd.” promptly provided full-scale search and rescue and medical assistance to the entire crew of the “Circon” vessel. Moreover, the company’s humanitarian approach was not limited to its own employees. “Cunda Shipping Ltd.” treated the crew of the affected “Natra” vessel as its own, providing comprehensive assistance including logistics, medical aid, and moral support.

This step once again proved that professionalism in shipping is measured not only by technical skills but also by solidarity, responsibility, and respect for human life.

During the meeting, company representatives expressed concern over unfounded allegations directed against their activities. It should be noted that over the course of our 4-year cooperation, we have observed that “Cunda Shipping Ltd.” has only been engaged in the transport of agricultural products and other civilian cargo in full compliance with international standards. It is known to us, our partner organizations, and other seafarers that the company has not been involved in any illegal transport, including weapons or other prohibited goods; the circulating claims are false and widely known to be so.

We regret to note that despite the company’s humanitarian conduct during these difficult times, certain circles are conducting a smear campaign and attempting to mislead public opinion with false information.

As the Azerbaijan Seafarers Support Public Union, we call on the public:

  • Do not believe baseless allegations and rumors about the company
  • Avoid sharing unverified information
  • Rely only on official sources from state institutions and our Public Union

We always stand for justice and truth. We once again thank “Cunda Shipping Ltd.” for its humanitarian attitude toward Azerbaijani seafarers and strongly condemn the smear campaign being conducted against it.

With deep respect,
Ilham Rafiq Nasirov
Chairman of the Azerbaijan Seafarers Support Public Union
