Robert Brovdi, known by the call sign “Madyar” and serving as the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has confirmed attacks carried out against cargo vessels in the waters of the Sea of Azov.
According to sea-news.az Brovdi stated in a post on his Telegram channel that Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces had struck cargo ships in ports located along the northern coast of the Sea of Azov.
It should be recalled that, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, two cargo vessels in the Sea of Azov were targeted by unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks. As a result of the incident, five Azerbaijani citizens aboard the vessels, which carried a total of 25 crew members, lost their lives, while the remaining crew members were rescued.
Earlier reports indicated that the dry cargo vessels “Natra” and “Zirkon”, which came under attack, were sailing under foreign flags and were not owned by the Azerbaijani state. The Azerbaijani citizens serving on board had been employed individually as crew members.
In his post, Robert Brovdi also published video footage that he said showed the moments of the attacks. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
