A fire that broke out on the Ro-Pax ferry GNV Phoenix, which was undergoing maintenance at the Port of Naples, has been fully extinguished.

The incident was reported on Wednesday evening on the vessels seventh deck.

A total of 85 people on board were safely evacuated, with no injuries reported. Firefighting vessels, tugboats, and Italys fire and rescue services were deployed to bring the blaze under control.

As a precautionary measure, Naples city authorities advised residents to avoid prolonged outdoor exposure and to limit the use of ventilation systems.

The fire was fully contained by Thursday morning, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the vessel. Cleanup operations and investigations are ongoing.
