The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported a maritime incident approximately 200 nautical miles west of Yemen’s Socotra Island.
According to the report, the master of a tanker stated that a small vessel carrying five people approached the ship.
The vessel’s onboard armed security team intervened, after which the small craft altered course and left the area.
UKMTO noted that the incident is under investigation and advised vessels transiting the area to exercise caution and promptly report any suspicious activity.
