Two Capesize bulk carriers have collided in the Singapore Strait.
The incident occurred between the vessel “Cape XL”, which had departed from an anchorage area, and the “Huge Kumano”, which was proceeding along its scheduled route.
According to reports, “Cape XL” had anchored near Changi waters for bunkering purposes before getting underway and heading eastbound, where it subsequently came into contact with the other vessel.
Following the collision, the ships remained briefly in contact and drifted together with the current before separating and re-anchoring nearby. “Huge Kumano” was later escorted by tugboats.
No injuries were reported, and there is no information indicating environmental damage.
