The Turkish Coast Guard Command has rescued 34 irregular migrants off the coast of Karaburun district in İzmir province, where they were in danger of drowning. According to reports, the boat carrying the migrants lost its ability to maneuver and drifted at sea, prompting an immediate response by deployed units.
In a separate operation, 40 irregular migrants were detected and detained during surveillance activities off the coast of Dikili district in İzmir. The detained individuals were handed over to the Directorate of Migration Management for further procedures.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
