The Cameroon-flagged commercial vessel Marquise, which came under a drone attack off the coast of Ukraine, has passed through the Bosphorus Strait under heightened security measures.
Following the incident in the Black Sea, maritime traffic through the strait was temporarily suspended in both directions during the morning hours while the vessel entered the passage. Navigation resumed after the operation was successfully completed.
To ensure the vessel’s safe transit, tugboats and rescue ships belonging to the Turkish Coast Guard escorted the Marquise through the strait. After several hours of controlled passage, the ship exited the Bosphorus without incident.
Although authorities have not disclosed the extent of the damage caused by the attack, the incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of commercial shipping operating in the Black Sea region.
