A vessel has reportedly been seized approximately 70 kilometers northeast of the Port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The information was released by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
According to the report, the ship was taken under the control of unauthorized individuals while at anchor and later altered course toward Iranian territorial waters.
“The master reported that while the vessel was at anchor, it was boarded and seized by unauthorized persons and is now proceeding toward Iranian territorial waters. UKMTO is continuing its investigation. Vessels are advised to report any suspicious activity to UKMTO,” the statement said.
No additional details have been provided regarding the vessel’s ownership, the condition of the crew, or whether cargo was onboard.
