It has been reported that Iraq and Pakistan have signed new agreements with Iran regarding the transportation of oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) through the Persian Gulf.
According to Reuters, citing sources, an agreement between Baghdad and Tehran has enabled the safe passage of two supertankers carrying 4 million barrels of Iraqi oil through the Strait of Hormuz.
“Baghdad is currently continuing talks to obtain Iran’s approval for additional transit shipments,” the sources said.
At the same time, under a separate bilateral arrangement between Islamabad and Tehran, two LNG tankers loaded in Qatar have been directed toward Pakistan.
Sources note that Qatar was not directly involved in these agreements, although Pakistan reportedly informed the United States in advance about the planned shipments.
It is emphasized that Iraq and Pakistan did not make direct payments to Iran or the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for these transit operations.
