A US Navy Ohio-class strategic submarine, equipped with intercontinental ballistic missiles, entered the military base in Gibraltar on May 10.

This was reported by the US Navy’s Sixth Fleet.

The statement said the visit demonstrates the United States’ military capabilities, operational flexibility, and commitment to NATO allies:

“The ballistic missiles carried on board the Ohio-class submarines are one of the most resilient components of the US nuclear triad.”

The US Navy operates a total of 14 Ohio-class strategic submarines. Each is capable of carrying up to 20 Trident II D-5 intercontinental ballistic missiles.
