A cargo ship reported to have sunk in the Aegean Sea

A cargo vessel has sunk after hitting rocks near the island of Andros in the Aegean Sea.

All crew members—comprising eight Turkish nationals and one Azerbaijani—were rescued by the Greek Coast Guard. It was reported that the crew members were taken to the island of Andros.

According to Greece’s state broadcaster ERT, the ship was transporting 8,000 tons of soda ash from Albania to Ukraine when the accident occurred.
