A third US Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, the USS Rafael Peralta, has transited the Strait of Hormuz and entered the Persian Gulf as part of what has been described as the “Freedom” mission.

According to CBS News, citing official sources, other US naval vessels, including the USS Truxtun and USS Mason, are currently positioned in the western part of the Strait of Hormuz awaiting further instructions.

Officials say these forces are operating within a layered defense framework aimed at ensuring the safe passage of commercial vessels attempting to transit the strait and exit the Persian Gulf. The system reportedly includes naval ships, combat aircraft, and air defense assets deployed in coordination.
