The sailing competition for the “President Cup”, dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s birth, has officially started in Baku Bay. The event is jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation.
The races began at 11:00 local time.
More than 30 athletes are competing in the tournament. The events are being held in two categories:
- Optimist (juniors)
- ILCA4 (youth)
The competition is scheduled to conclude later today.
Previously, the “President Cup 2026” rowing and canoeing competitions were also held in honor of the same anniversary. The regatta began at the Sarsang reservoir for the first time, continued in Sugovushan, and concluded in Mingachevir. The Azerbaijani team finished the tournament with a total of 2 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
