Position: Operations Manager

Education: Degree in Project Management, Mechanical, Naval, Structural Engineering

Experience:

  • Minimum 15-20 years of experience in Operations within oil and gas Offshore Engineering and Construction industry;
  • Minimum 5 years of international experience as Operations Manager, in particular – jacket installation, pipe lay, subsea installation, umbilical cable lay, heavy lifts;
  • 5-10 years of international experience as Assistant Superintendent, Offshore Construction Manageron medium-to large-scale and complex offshore projects.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of offshore installation and removal techniques;
  • Knowledge of various types of lifting methodologies, including suitability of each methods to specific operational needs. Knowledge of risks associated with lifting and associated mitigation techniques;
  • Familiarity with fabrication and installation techniques in order to:

– ensure effective inter-function relationships in the entire EPIC chain – understand and follow compliance with project requirements;

– correctly define the quality and timing of deliverables (engineering and procurement);

– correctly define the quality and timing of deliverables (engineering and procurement);

– monitor deviation from planned workflow and deliverables reception, correctly activating the management of change process to implement the best corrective actions;

  • Capability to perform structure (jacket, modules, manifolds, templates, small items) installation/construction and design all installation Aids, in agreement and liaising with drafting department, lead method and vessel operation. Interpretation of installation engineering results relevant to the activity;
  • Capability to define project scope in order to meet the needs and expectations of the interested parties;
  • Strong knowledge of project management techniques;
  • Definition, knowledge, understanding and application of HSE procedures and Project requirements for all project phases;
  • Knowledge of contracts schemes and contractual terms and ability to analyse the main contractual conditions;
  • Knowledge of applicable standards linked to the project planning processes. Capability to ensure planning, scheduling, development, execution, monitoring, controlling and implementation set-up for Progress Measurement System in accordance with the project complexity;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills;
  • Strong managerial skills.

Languages: Azerbaijani (fluent); English (fluent)

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate and control the execution of the offshore operations and relevant onshore fabrication of a project, in accordance with Client requirements, within time and cost constraints and in compliance with HSE and Quality procedures;
  • Achieve profit objectives ensuring the observance of company procedures and practices;
  • Defend company interest for the responsibilities in its merit;
  • Manage the offshore operations leading the company vessels construction managers and subcontractors as well as the project fabrication portion for incorporable such as PLETs/ jumpers/ quadruple joints with exclusion of fixed facilities;
  • Represent the company towards offshore representative of the Clients, offshore related Subcontractors and manage also contractual aspects;
  • Ensure the proper contract analysis and the review of contractual/ technical documents related to onshore construction of offshore installation;
  • Ensure the implementation of methodologies related to risk and knowledge management and to company Golden and Silver Rules;
  • Ensure the proper coordination between onshore construction and offshore installation to ensure the most costs effective scenario for the projects;
  • Optimize interfaces between fabrication and offshore installation to ensure the safest and practical installation of the structures;
  • Organize and hold the onshore and offshore specifics project kick-off meeting in agreement with others functions;
  • Define with construction yard the best fabrication strategy to ensure a proper yard/quay occupation and optimize the logistics spread (cargo barge/supply vessels;
  • Ensure that all structures fabricated that are leaving the yard comply with the offshore requirements;
  • Define offshore related project strategies and the scope of work of vessel fleet and ancillary vessels ensuring the offshore project activity planning;
  • Assist the Project Manager of the project to negotiate with Client to reach agreement on the outstanding pricing, commercial, contractual and technical aspects of the construction and offshore portion of the proposal and of the variation orders related to construction and offshore parts;
  • Supervise installation engineering when dealing with S-Lay or fixed facilities installation, as well as positioning and survey, pre-commissioning / commissioning, diving and logistics activities;
  • Supervise the offshore activities which are subcontracted (e.g. diving, field joint coating, others contractors) including subcontract and technical management ensuring adhesion of subcontractor to company policies and procedures;
  • Supervise all offshore project activities with regards to quality and HSE topics, supported by the other project organisation roles;
  • Ensure the issue of construction and offshore installation project reports;
  • Ensure the collection of construction and offshore installation project feedbacks and lesson learnt issuing offshore installation final project reports;
  • Coordinate with Assets department and Operations departments to ensure an optimized utilization of load out equipment / sequence of works and of the naval means.
