Position: Vessel Operations Manager

Education: Master’s degree in Project Management, Mechanical, Naval, Structural Engineering

Experience:

  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in Installation Engineering within oil and gas Offshore Engineering and Construction industry;
  • Minimum 10 years of international experience in Subsea Installation, in particular – jacket installation, umbilical cable lay, heavy lifts;
  • 5-10 years of international experience as a Field Engineer on medium-to large-scale and complex offshore projects.

Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of offshore installation and removal techniques;
  • Knowledge of the engineering activities to be performed in support of the offshore assets development and maintenance and offshore operations execution and capability to plan the needed resources and monitor their workload and achieved results;
  • Capability to analyse engineering documents;
  • Capability to prepare and coordinate the preparation of Discipline technical proposal documents;
  • Knowledge of Project Procurement management tools and techniques and of project management principles applied to Procurement;
  • Knowledge of criteria, standards, main techniques and methodologies for hazards identification during work execution, occupational risk assessment and evaluation;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills;
  • Strong managerial skills.

Languages: Azerbaijani (fluent); English (fluent)

Responsibilities:

  • Be focal point for the vessel reporting to local operations management;
  • During the commercial phase validate the offshore schedule sequences, check the costs associated to vessels, sanction offshore portion versus vessels features;
  • During the execution phase ensure safe/cost effective scheduling, ensure vessel suitability to perform safely/efficiently activities, propose any alternates activities liaising with Vessel Asset Manager (VAM) and Vessel Management Team (VMT);

During commercial phase:

  • Recover bid documentation, comment them, ensure vessels competiveness. When gaps, that cannot be qualified, are identified ensure relevant costs/timings are embedded. Participate/validate the offshore schedule and all technical closures as per offshore operations management;
  • Define necessary vessels resources mobilization and plan training (in particular welders) in conjunction with Corporate;
  • Report to Corporate, highlighting any case of discrepancies among proposed solutions and insertion into the bid.

During execution phase:

  • Actively safeguard the Safety vision and HSE Policies;
  • Promote training of assigned resources;
  • Participate with Project Management Team (PMT) to offshore installation strategy definition and collaborate to optimize offshore tentative schedule/overall sequences;
  • Validate vessel activities durations and features suitability. Project vessels readiness remains within PMT remits;
  • Assist PMT for the definition/optimization of necessary installation aids/spares and of the support spread validation/choice/optimization;
  • Participate actively to HAZID, HAZOP and operational/technical audits to validate various project groups choices;
  • Ensure that all operations are intrinsically safe and report immediately to Corporate should different instructions be given to vessels;
  • Be present and visible on-board during startup/critical phases of any offshore activities. Initiate/participate to project Kick Off on board vessel;
  • Liaise with engineering/PMT to lead and achieve most efficient/effective solutions for the methodology chosen for construction activities;
  • Interface with Corporate to select and optimize resources allocated to vessels and assist the PMT in their timely mobilization;
  • Interface with the on board VMT in order to implement sequences proposed by PMT;
  • Interface with asset, in particular with the VAM, to implement all operating relevant activities established during various maintenance campaigns and during upgrades and to achieve safer and more cost-effective vessel performances;
  • Verify the installation schedule and propose solutions in case of discrepancy with the schedule of the bid stage or updated at a later stage;
  • Report schedule criticalities to Corporate to ensure that the overall marine unit utilization schedule is maintained/modified accordingly;
  • Participate and suggest solutions to offshore operations management in case of criticalities within vessel operation activity;
  • Ensure and follow career development of all assigned resources, undertaking decision to uplift responsibilities of assigned people;
  • Keep vessel and on-board equipment efficiency under control, supervising/suggesting modification, conversions and upgrades decided in conjunction with project or autonomously with Corporate;
  • In case of accident be part of investigation team if requested;
  • Fully adhere, at all times and irrespective of the workplace, to Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) policies, procedures and requirements;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Superior.
