In January-May of this year the volume of freights transported by sea in Azerbaijan made up 2399,8 thousand tones, 5,2% less in comparison to the relevant period of the previous year, State Statistics Committee told APA-Economics.
39,8% of the cargo was oil freight. 3922,5 thousand tones loading and unloading works were carried out by seaports and 3779,8 thousand tones or 96,4% of cargo were transit cargos.
As of June 1, 2021, the volume of freights that remained in the ports was 97,6 thousand tonnes. During the period, the number of passengers transported by this transport type decreased by 17,2% in comparison to the relevant period of 2020 and stand at 5,3 thousand.
