Fertilizer transshipment terminal opened in Batumi port

A fertilizer storage and transshipment terminal has been officially opened in the Georgian port of Batumi, Report informs.

As it was announced to the guests of the event, the terminal is capable of storing about 65,000 tons of fertilizers.

The terminal’s construction began in July 2019, and the investments in the project reach $25 million.

The project is the brainchild of the American corporation Trammo together with Wondernet Express Investment Group.

General Director of the Batumi Multimodal Terminal Mamuka Murjikneli, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natela Turnava, Minister of Finance and Economy of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Jaba Putkaradze, Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Rakhimov, President of Trammo Corporation Edward Weiner made speeches at the opening ceremony.

At the moment, the terminal already stores about 25,000 tons of urea of ​​Turkmen origin.
