Kaliningrad fishing vessels have started commercial sprat fishing in the Caspian Sea off the coast of Dagestan.
According to  INTERFAX Russia , for more than 15 years trawling has been banned here, as the biological resources of this area have been seriously undermined. During this time, the marine component and coastal infrastructure were completely destroyed. That is why, for a new fishing season, fishing vessels from the Kaliningrad Region come to the port of Makhachkala at the request of the Dagestan authorities. The Za Rodinu group of companies transported 2 foreign-built vessels from the Kaliningrad region to the port of Makhachkala.
Another Kaliningrad company, LLC Marfish, has also registered a Dagestan subsidiary and is now ferrying three small vessels along the country’s rivers to the Caspian Sea. All these vessels will be based at the only berth in the port of the Dagestan capital. The fishing season for them will be open until March 31, 2021. Sprat fishing has already started using trawl fishing according to the so-called Olympic system, when companies do not have quotas and can carry any amount of fish on board.
