In August, imports of liquefied natural gas to China reached 5.96 million tons, which is 16.3% more than in the same month last year.
As reported by Offshore Energy with reference to the data of the main customs administration of the PRC, following the results of 8 months, LNG imports to China amounted to 42.17 mln tons. Compared to January-August last year, supplies increased by 10%.
China is the world’s second largest importer of LNG after Japan, but the situation could change this year, Offshore Energy notes.
Following the results of 8 months of this year, Japan imported 48.4 million tons of LNG.
Australia is the main supplier of LNG to China. Qatar and Indonesia follow.
