Container turnover of the Caspian basin in June 2020 increased by 16.3%

According to the analytical online service SeaNews PORTSTAT, in June 2020 the container turnover of the ports of the Caspian basin increased by 16.3% compared to June last year. Positive dynamics is observed only in imports (growth by 6.4 times), negative – in cabotage (-23.2%) and exports (-26.7%).

The share of the Caspian basin in the total container turnover of all seaports of Russia in June 2020 corresponded to 0.1%.

The number of loaded containers handled was 29.9% less than in June 2019. There were no loaded refrigerated containers. 42.1% of loaded containers went in import, 16.9% in cabotage and 41% in export.

Handling of empty containers increased 6.6 times.

In June of this year, the share of the port of Astrakhan in the total container turnover of the Caspian basin was 38.9%, Makhachkala handled 35.3%, Olya exceeded 25.8%.
