Title:                      Instrumentation Supervisor

Department:       Engineering & Maintenance

Location:            Sumgait

POSITION SUMMARY

This position supervises DCS, Process Technology Analyzer and FGS, and Instrumentation technicians and responsible for effective planning and implementation of maintenance activities within instrument discipline.

JOB DUTIES

  • Review maintenance procedures
  • Complies with all HSE programs, policies and procedures
  • Ensuring proper labour relations and conditions of employment are maintained
  • Participates in internal and external audits
  • Takes part in shutdown planning and execution
  • Participates in investigation of failures of equipment, provide all necessary support to Engineering department
  • Monitors equipment for operational problems
  • Performs special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned                          
  • Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of Instrumentation Technician duties
  • Prepares regular activity reports
  • Assigns work orders to technicians and monitors performance
  • Oversees and evaluates the work of subordinates
  • Sets goals and provides resources to assure team and individual success
  • Conducts necessary training activities
  • Manages, coaches, develops and motivates directly reporting the staff
  • Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques
  • Attends in the performance evaluation process
  • Participates in team safety meetings
  • Provides input to technician training needs
  • Co-ordinates and manages in-house contractors and vendors to ensure work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees
  • Oversees contractor employee activities      
  • Supervises the repair of equipment for completeness, correctness, quality, safety, efficiency, and documentation
  • Estimate the spares required for smooth execution of the Instrument maintenance activities
  • Identify non-spare stock and material/equipment needs
  • Participates in the work management system implementation
  • Other duties requested by Line Manager
  • Accountable for all safety rules and regulations are followed in areas of responsibility
  • Accountable for ensuring that Instrumentation Technicians understand and strictly adhere to the company processes and standards
  • Accountable for training, development and coaching of own personnel
  • Accountable for the efficient execution of work by spending sufficient time
  • Accountable for Risk Mitigation factors included in all Maintenance Permits to Work
  • Accountable for provision of Tool Box Talks
  • Accountable for the completion of the work execution schedule 
  • Accountable for recording relevant work order information
  • Accountable for provision of required technical information for spare parts procurement
  • Responsible for continuous development of technicians to support the company needs
  • Responsible to ensure that work is assigned to the correct crew member
  • Responsible for resolving and/or escalating issues that prevent completing scheduled work
  • Responsible for planning and executing High Priority work
  • Responsible for looking ahead at the upcoming week’s schedule and ensuring proper resources are available to complete work as planned
  • Responsible for creating a culture of reliability and continuous improvement
  • Responsible for building proper relationship with the plant management in order to achieve common goals

REQUIREMENTS

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline or recognized industry apprenticeship
  • Minimum 5 years of proven practical experience, preferably in Petro-Chemical Industry
  • Previous supervisory or lead technician experience
  • Experience working with Third Party vendors and/or contractors
  • Budget and cost management experience
  • Experience with maintenance databases and data management
  • Reporting and following subordination
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling
  • Focus on system acceptance, handover and start-up

Language Skills

Advanced knowledge of Azerbaijani and English

Knowledge of Russian is an asset

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Process controls and associated Instrumentation – Electronic and Pneumatic
  • DCS (Yokogawa Centum VP), ESD (Yokogawa ProSafe RS), PLC (Siemens Simatic S7), MMS (Bentley Nevada 3500), Fire and Gas protection systems (Rockwell AB)
  • MAXUM II, SIPROCESS GA7, OXYMAT 7, ULTRAMAT 7, COLOMAT 7
  • Running equipment (compressor, blower, pump) control and start-ups
  • Knowledge of HART, Modbus, Profibus, Vnet/IP and other protocols
  • Excellent understanding of P&I diagrams, Logic drawings, functional blocks and sequence schematics, engineering specifications and other technical manuals
  • Monitor and diagnose of field instrumentation, ICSS, and analysing sytems
  • Loop test and calibration of sensing and final control devices
  • Instrumentation test and diagnose via calibrators, field communicators and AMS
  • Revision of control, machine monitoring systems and programmable logic controllers
  • Excellent PC, printing and scanning cognition
  • General knowledge of fieldbus and system network
  • Yokogawa Centum VP / ProSafe RS / PRM, Simatic S7, RSLogix
  • Windows OS and Microsoft Office Applications
  • SAP GUI/Fiori
  • Strong communication skills and team-working skills.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Positive thinking, self-motivated, proactive and committed
  • Team player and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience influencing project teams and contractors.
  • Proven successful track record in operations, maintenance practices and procedures
  • Proven track record in successfully implementing technology in a process facility in automation area
  • Excellent understanding of safety management in processing facility, with a demonstrated personal commitment to safety
  • Hazard recognition skills
  • Working knowledge of Operations Management Systems
  • Familiar with Management of Change and Control of Work practices
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to identify contamination issues (people, equipment)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience influencing project teams and contractors
