Azerbaijan, Georgia start negotiations on application of new common tariffs on freightage

Georgia is in talks with a number of countries on application of common tariffs on freightage, said the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Akaki Saghirashvili, Report informs.

According to him, an agreement was reached to create a working group in this regard.

The deputy minister noted that the tariff agreement will increase the competitiveness of the corridor: “We held bilateral and multilateral meetings with the regional countries. We are aiming to deepen the relations with countries of the corridor, including Bulgaria, Ukraine, Iran, Turkey.”

Saghirashvili noted that research will be conducted on freightage via ferryboats: “Based on the research, we can develop a plan with our partners. The working group will firstly be trilateral. However, we negotiated with Azerbaijani side yesterday and they will join this group.”
