Islamic Republic of Iran will take an advantage of the experience of Azerbaijani experts for the construction of a ferry terminal in the port of Amirabad. For this purpose, the employees of the port of Amirabad and the outsourced companies visited Baku International Sea Trade Port. The visit involved an active exchange of views between representatives of the port of Amirabad and Azerbaijani seafarers. The guests were informed about the principles of operations, the technical characteristics of the ferry terminal and the mechanism of managing the ferries. Along with this, they were demonstrated the processes of mooring of ferries to the berth, loading railway wagons on the ferry.

Deputy Director of the port of Amirabad for technical and engineering issues Kamal Abdullahi noted that the shipping experience of Azerbaijan among the countries in the Caspian region has always been of interest to the Iranian side. That is why during the construction of the ferry terminal in Amirabad, the main attention is paid to the researching of Azerbaijan’s experience in the construction of such facilities.

Kamal Abdullahi stressed that the construction of the Amirabad ferry terminal is supposed to complete within five months. The cooperation in this direction will continue.

It should be noted that currently the fleet of the Shipping Company- the only ferry operator in the Caspian Sea, -has 13 types of ferries and two vessels of the RO-RO type.

In the near future, Baku Shipyard will start metal cutting for the construction of new generation of Ro-Pax vessels.
