American scientists invented robotic fish. She will help in the study of the water world.
Specialists from the Laboratory of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology presented a robot fish that can imperceptibly merge into the environment under water.
According to mir24.tv, the fish was given the name SoFi. She can swim at a depth of 15 meters to 40 minutes. Her tail is driven by two hydraulic pumps. Also, the tail can be controlled using a waterproof remote control. Robot fish travels are recorded on a high-resolution video camera. Specialists equipped it with built-in sensing sensors, an engine and a lithium battery, the same as smartphones.
Scientists are sure that real fish will not notice the catch. They believe that SoFi will allow a better study of the life of marine life in comparison with current underwater vehicles. Now ichthyologists use autonomous devices for these purposes, which must be tied to the boat with a cable.
Note that, scientists have long been inventing robots that help science and in everyday life. So, Russian engineers are preparing a new robot named “Teledroid”, which will fly into space.
