The Naval Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army have destroyed an hostile unmanned surface vessel (USV) operating east of the Strait of Hormuz.
Sea-news.az reports that the public relations department of the Iranian Navy reported the incident in an official statement.
“Earlier this morning, an enemy unmanned vessel navigating and operating within the operational sector east of the Strait of Hormuz was targeted and destroyed by naval forces,” the statement read.
According to the Navy, two additional tankers transiting through restricted and hazardous zones east of the strait—having ignored warnings and deactivated their automated identification tracking systems—sustained damage and caught fire after striking naval mines.
The flag states of the impacted vessels have not been disclosed.
