Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims that three oil tankers navigating an unauthorized route in the southern Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours suffered explosions and fires after striking naval mines.

Sea-news.az reports citing foreign media outlets, that according to the IRGC statement, the tankers had disabled their radar and navigation tracking systems and ignored warnings issued by the IRGC Navy.

Iranian sources maintain that following the detonations, the damaged vessels remained stranded off the southern coast of the strait.

It should be recalled that United States Central Command (CENTCOM) recently rejected Iranian claims alleging frequent commercial ship mine detonations in the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM emphasized that thousands of commercial vessels have safely navigated the strait and continue to utilize the international shipping lanes.
