Iran has warned that underwater internet cables passing through the Strait of Hormuz could become targets in the event of a potential military conflict.
Sea-news.az reports this was stated by a spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to him, in the event of war, Tehran’s response will be harsher and new types of weapons will be deployed.
The IRGC spokesperson noted that seven key submarine cables, vital for global internet operations and the transmission of commercial data, run through the Strait of Hormuz. He highlighted that this infrastructure could be among the potential targets.
