China has tested satellite internet along Arctic shipping routes for the first time.
Sea-news.az reports citing China Central Television, that pre-commercial application tests were successfully completed. It was stated that as part of China’s 16th Arctic Ocean expedition, a communication link was established connecting the Arctic, Antarctica, and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
It should be noted that China is implementing a long-term strategy to reinforce its position in the Arctic and develop the “Polar Silk Road” logistics network.
