Russia Proposes AI-Powered Digital Twin of the Caspian Sea to Forecast Sea Level Fluctuations

Russia has proposed creating a high-precision digital twin (virtual model) of the Caspian Sea leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to accurately project future water level fluctuations.

Sea-news.az reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the initiative during his address at the Caspian Ecological Summit.

According to Putin, the high-precision virtual model will evaluate complex data streams—including evaporation rates, precipitation patterns, and river inflow dynamics—to calculate reliable long-term hydrological scenarios. He noted that the digital system could also be actively utilized to adjust navigation routes, optimize maritime traffic, and enhance overall navigational safety across the basin. President Putin invited CIS and Caspian littoral states to join the collaborative initiative.
