Amid rising regional tensions and security risks in the Middle East, the United States is significantly reinforcing its military contingent in the region, including naval and air forces.

By the end of November, the US plans to deploy a third aircraft carrier strike group, as well as additional Marine Corps forces, to the Middle East.

Sea-news.az reports that this was disclosed by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources.

According to the newspaper, the Pentagon is sending a third carrier strike group and additional Marine Corps vessels to the Middle East. As a result of this move, the number of US military personnel in the region is expected to increase by approximately 9,000 to 10,000.

Reportedly, the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt has already departed from the port of San Diego.

Currently, the US Navy aircraft carriers USS George H.W. Bush and USS George Washington are deployed in the Middle East.
