Under a new security agreement, US military aircraft and vessels will gain expanded access to Greenland’s airspace and territorial waters.
Sea-news.az reports that, under the agreement released by the White House, US armed forces, vessels and aircraft will have unrestricted access to Greenland’s defense facilities, including those located in its territorial waters, on land and in its airspace, as well as the right to move between these facilities.
The document states that US aircraft will be permitted to fly over and land in any part of Greenland, while military vessels will be allowed to move freely through its territorial waters, except in agreed circumstances.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly by US President Donald Trump, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen.
