Turkish-flagged container ship “Lionfish” subjected to drone attack in the Black Sea
Sea-news.az reports citing Turkish media, that the incident occurred on September 13.
According to the information, the strike hit the container section of the vessel, resulting in a fire breaking out in that area. Crew members promptly extinguished the fire. No deaths or injuries were reported during the incident.
At the time of the attack, the Lionfish was en route from Turkey’s Ambarli port to Trabzon.
According to preliminary information, it has not yet been determined which side or who carried out the attack on the vessel.
The incident has once again brought to the forefront the security risks faced by commercial merchant vessels amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war in the Black Sea.
