Passenger transportation services across the Caspian Sea between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are planned to be officially resumed.
Sea-news.az reports that Alim Bayel, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan, shared this information.

According to the diplomat, the Kazakh side has proposed to Azerbaijan the restoration of passenger ferry services along the Kuryk–Baku–Kurky route.
The ambassador noted that prior to the suspension of passenger services, approximately 1,500 passengers per year were transported across the Caspian in this direction. He added that the number of travelers wishing to use this route is expected to grow significantly in the future.
“Re-launching the ferry line will give a fresh impetus to the development of passenger connections between the two countries, strengthen tourism exchanges, and expand the capabilities of the Middle Corridor,” Bayel stated.
The ambassador also announced that the Azerbaijani side has expressed support for Kazakhstan’s proposal. Currently, the relevant transport authorities of both countries have initiated practical work toward restoring passenger links.
It is worth noting that passenger transport along the Kuryk–Baku–Kurryk route operated until 2020. The resumption of these sailings, which were initially halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is expected to greatly enhance cross-Caspian transport cooperation and tourism ties.
